it only took two days, but i finally found a pair of boots that fit. and, they were mysteriously $200 off.
yesterday, i drove down to des moines, determined to find a pair of brown leather boots. i wanted them to be mostly flat, for heels are no good in winter. i wanted them to be tall so that i could wear them with skirts for a bit. after visiting every store that sells shoes in two malls and two other shoe stores, i discovered that i have really fat calves, at least for boots.
last night, i was looking online for boots made for people with wide calves, and found these. i loved them, but could not justify spending $320 on a pair of boots. this morning, i decided that i'd go to the mall in ames, stopped in the shoes store, and found the boots sitting on the shelf marked $129.
and, the rest, as they say, is history.
this sigg bottle is my new best friend. it holds a litre of whatever i choose to stick in it. in the morning, that's coffee. in the afternoon, water.
this is necessary because the people in my office drink really, really shitty coffee. it's either hazelnut or french vanilla flavored and they like it brewed really weak (two scoops instead of the three that i'd normally do). i am not allowed to switch out the coffee, for i have asked. i might eventually be able to get a coffee pot to put on my desk, but until then, i'll just drag a litre of the good stuff to work with me every morning.
